"I believe teaching is the greatest profession because we get the honor and privilege of guiding the future of our great country." These words were spoken from our Nassau County Teacher of the Year, Jennifer Albert. Jennifer was awarded this prestigious title earlier this month! Even though she originally pursued college for another path, her parents always knew she was going to be a teacher. She would line up her dolls and stuffed animals to teach them school and use her white board to instruct her imaginary class. At the age of 6, she began dancing and in later years "jumped" on the opportunity to become a student-teacher in dance class. In college, she became a dance instructor. Her life was always centered around children in some way.
Jennifer has been married to her husband Richie for 15 years. Shortly after marriage her teaching career began. A few years later she became a 5th grade teacher at Emma Love Hardee Elementary and has remained teacher at that school for 5th grade for 12 years. She is a Mom to two children; Haleigh is 12 and Colby is 9 years old. Jennifer enjoys her family time and often spends her summer days at the pool and doing yard work. She enjoys seeing Haleigh's passion for dancing and Colby's for golf and flag football.
Currently she holds several titles and lead positions in Nassau County. Jennifer is a National Board Certified Teacher. She has led professional development in reading strategies for Emma Love Hardee, is the Grade-Level Chair for the 5th grade department, the Science Committee Chair, the Bridges Committee Chair, and a member of District’s leadership training cadre.
When asked how she keeps her instruction interesting in the classroom, she said, "I keep it interesting by having a sense of humor with my students and planning hands-on, engaging lessons and centers that make students excited about learning. I tell them all the time to go home and tell your parents what you learned today."
Congratulations Jennifer Albert for being our Nassau County Teacher of the Year! I feel privileged to have her as my child's teacher and have her in our studios. Now she is prepping for the Florida State Teacher of the Year! According to the Florida Department of Education Website, "This program recognizes and honors the contributions of outstanding classroom teachers who have demonstrated a superior capacity to inspire a love of learning in students of all backgrounds and abilities." What an honor to be among many of our state's amazing teachers! Good Luck!
