Everyone that knows me knows I LOVE surprises!!!!!!!!!!!! Especially the ones that I get to be involved in! Just a little over a week prior to the "Surprise Session", I received a call from Damon. He needed help surprising his beautiful bride of 10 years with a new ring for their anniversary. Let's backtrack 10 years, when Damon and Sara actually got engaged. Damon gave Sara her ring while on vacation, there was no elaborate proposal but the couple was delighted to be engaged. Both were very busy building careers that there was not much time for planning a big wedding, so there they were....off to Vegas to the Little White Chapel to get married. Sara even ordered her $99 wedding gown online and did not get a chance to try it on before the big day.
Now fast forward 10 years ahead, both have successful careers and they have a beautiful family. Damon wanted to give Sara the proposal he thought she deserved. He had a lot of the details worked out....he wanted to "propose" on the beach, have her favorite champagne on hand, and involve their two adorable daughters without them knowing what was going on either. Now... insert "Me". I was going to get this family "portrait ready" without them getting suspicious and capture the entire thing. Luckily, I am friends with this family so I knew I could assist in the plan. I called Sara the evening before the "Surprise Session" and asked her for help. I told her that I had a horseback proposal the next day and that I needed a "Mock Family" to sit in for me so the actual proposal clients did not get suspicious. Of course, I apologized for the short notice but told her that the original family I had "hired" had to back out due to a family illness. SCORE...she believed it!
So the day of the "Surprise Session" we got there 15 minutes early before my "real clients" (actually made up clients because there was no one coming on horseback...she was the one getting ready to be proposed to), so I could test my lights. During my "light testing", Damon got down on one knee and expressed his love of 10 years to his beautiful bride! It was perfect. Damon had also gotten rings for each of his daughter's too! AWWWEEE a perfect proposal....or anniversary...or surprise...well all of the above! Thanks to Damon for having me capture it all.
