Now is the time of year when Beach Portraits take over and I love it! My motto is, "The Sandier the Better!" We are fortunate enough to have a studio on a beautiful island with beautiful beaches with beautiful clients! Beach portraits are a must for our residents, but of course a highlight too for many of our vacationers. Whether you want a more traditional sandy beach, dune portrait, pier, and some hidden gems you won't see anywhere else, I feel like Amelia Island has it all and I am happy to call this place home.
What should you know when preparing for a beach session (5 great tips):
1) It is the beach...comfy casual clothing is always best.
2) Lose the shoes! This takes the stress off of families to find matching or like shoes, and honestly sand between the toes really is the best!
3) What colors to wear? No, you do not have to wear white...but can you....sure! I love color and recommend great color combinations to my clients all of the time. If you find yourself "color challenged" but want to choose color over white, go to your local home improvement store's paint section. Look at the complimentary color wheel or find those paint samples where they put complimentary colors together on the same card...like navy and coral...those are a hot color combination this summer. Back to can you wear white.....absolutely...white is a very classic look that will never go out of style, but if you are going to add a jean or a khaki, pick one or the other.
4) Of course as a professional photographer we can do portraits at anytime of day with great locations and/or studio lighting! Yes, we take studio lighting for all of our outdoor locations to make sure you look your absolute best in any lighting situation. But it is definitely easier on your eyes (very important for those with light colored eyes) to get an early morning session or a later evening session. Did you know blue eyed folks are the most light-sensitive eyed folks?
5) Be ready to have fun! Remember it is the beach and comfy casual is best, that includes our mentality too!
